Democratic primary elections for 109 of 150 seats in the Texas House of Representatives took place on March 1, 2022. Of the 109 seats up for election in 2022, 31 had a primary election with more than one candidates.

Does spending the most money during a campaign win elections? Historically, Texas has shown a strong correlation between a candidate’s ability to outspend their opponent(s) and victory on Election Day. 

As the 2020 elections begin to heat up in Texas, much of the focus will certainly be on the money flowing into the candidates’ war chests. If early numbers for this election cycle are any indicator, small dollar donors will have a big impact on the upcoming elections.
