On May 1, voters in Lubbock will be deciding the fate of Proposition A, which would declare the City of Lubbock as a “sanctuary for the unborn.” A hot-button issue from the start, Lubbock is experiencing a heightened level of outside interest in this local election. Proposition A was placed on the ballot in response to the opening of a Planned Parenthood clinic, and the subsequent petition and City Council rejections of the sanctuary ordinance that opened the door for a vote. 

Although disgraced Speaker of the Texas House Dennis Bonnen announced he would not seek reelection, he has not yet resigned, and he remains in control of more than $3.8 million. According to the most recent campaign finance reports released January 15, Bonnen has $824,334.01 in his campaign account and $2,996,243.90 in Texas Leads, a PAC established by Bonnen.

You know those iffy charges from your last work trip that you decided not to include on your expense report because they’d probably get flagged by HR? Whether it was that $10 candy from the hotel mini-bar, a round of golf that wasn’t necessarily all business, or new underwear because you forgot to pack any, some expenses are more questionable (or embarrassing) than others.
