Donors in Florida shelled out over $533 million during the 2020 election cycle, showing their support to PACs and candidates through contributions. While a number of PACs and organizations make up the state’s top donor list, the most prolific individual donor chipped in over $3.2 million to various PACs and candidates.
Miguel B. “Mike” Hernandez contributed $3,218,060 to various PACs and candidates in 2020. The top recipient of Hernandez’s financial support, with contributions totaling $3,054,154, was the All Voters Vote, Inc. This organization supports an amendment to the Florida constitution which would effectively end partisan primaries by allowing any voter, no matter their party affiliation, to vote in any election. Also in the top three organizations that were supported by Hernandez are Florida Future and Initiative for Florida’s Future PC, with contributions of $50,000 and $37,006, respectively.
According to a business profile, Hernandez is the chairman of MBF Healthcare Partners, L.P., a private investment firm located in Coral Gables. In addition to his extensive career in business, Hernandez has also served on the boards of various organizations and institutions, including the University of Miami.
