This article details the five most and least expensive contested primary elections in the State Senate. In the 2022 election cycle, nine of 37 Republican primaries and five of 29 Democratic primaries are contested.

Five primary elections with the most fundraising

#1 District 4 – $1,092,598

Jason Fischer (R) raised $824,671 and Clay Yarborough (R) raised $267,927.

#2 District 5 – $735,823

Reggie Gaffney (D) raised $582,744 and Tracie Davis (D) raised $153,079.

#3 District 35 – $498,157

Incumbent Lauren Book (D) raised $478,687 and Barbara Sharief (D) raised $19,470.

#4 District 10 – $449,115

Incumbent Jason Brodeur (R) raised $449,115 and Denali Charres (R) raised $0.

#5 District 2 – $297,456

Jay Trumbull (R) raised $297,456 and Regina Piazza (R) raised $0.
